Buca di Hempsey

John, Linda, Megan, and Justin met us for our 2nd annual “catch-up dinner.” John and Linda’s kids have grown up to be quite pleasant. I find that somewhat surprising, because 15 years ago it wasn’t clear if John could raise a puppy, let alone a baby. As it turned out, the kids are so cute and nice you just want to reach over and squeeze their little cheeks. The pictures below link to the photo album:

We had Ben and Ryan over recently - lots of fun. They went to the movies, had pizza and ice cream, learned to smoke cigarettes. Here are the pictures:

How the Other Side Thinks

As discussed in an earlier post, not everyone believes the Prevention of Farm Animal Cruelty Act (Prop 2 on November’s ballot) is worthwhile. A spokesperson for one such group has stated why and how they plan to beat the measure in November.

Scott Macdonald from the so-called Californians for Sound Farm Animal Agriculture (CSFAA) states: “These kinds of decisions should be made by veterinarians, scientists and animal welfare experts - not at the ballot box,” and CSFAA must “de-emotionalize” the issue through consumer education efforts.

I guess it had to happen… Dani had the big 21st birthday. She wanted to have a special dinner with her Aunts and Uncle and her Mom and Bernie at the Claim Jumper in Rancho Bernardo. (I’m not sure what other birthday parties she had.) Dani looked so cute and happy with her little foo-foo drink!

Berry Impressive

March 27, 2008 by Michael | No Comment(s) | Post a Comment

Our little Timmy was an athlete of the week in the March 24th North County Times:

“Tim Berry, San Marcos Baseball: The junior left-hander won a pair of Lions Tournament games. He no-hit Linfield Christian over six innings with 12 strikeouts. He also homered in that game. In the semifinals of the 2A Division, he threw four innings and didn’t allow a run while striking out seven.”

And Shelly sent a link to an another article in the March 28th North County Times about Tim:

“Tim Berry has been virtually unhittable these past few weeks. The El Camino High baseball team scratched out only two infield hits against the San Marcos ace during the Knights’ 3-1 victory in the North County Times Tournament, reflecting a trend started in early March. The left-hander has thrown 16 consecutive scoreless innings over his last three starts, including Thursday’s six-inning, 10-strikeout effort against the Wildcats. Berry has struck out 29 during the hot streak, aided by a well-placed fastball and a knee-buckling curveball that leaves hitters baffled.”

Wild Animals

Amber, Paige and I spent the afternoon at the San Diego Wild Animal Park for a special girls day out. I really love those kids. We all had fun, but I think I was probably more excited then they were to see all the animals. These two are growing up too fast!
