Tim’s First No-Hitter
Our little Timmy pitched a no-hitter yesterday, a first for San Marcos High School! From the North County Times:
San Marcos High left-hander Tim Berry pitched his first career no-hitter on Tuesday, blanking Calexcio 5-0 in the Pirate-Falcon Classic. The senior, who will pitch for Oregon next year, struck out 17 and walked three. The no-hitter came one week after an 11-0 shutout in which he threw a six-inning one-hitter with 12 strikeouts.
“I just try to go out there and get the win,” Berry said. “The difference today over last week was my defense played stellar and my catcher, Nick Berkelo, played amazing. He was phenomenal.
“Things are feeling good. I’ve got great confidence in myself and the team. I think our team is coming along really well. I just feel like I could go out there and attack hitters and we are going to make the play. I’ve been working hard toward this season, and it’s starting to pay off.”
Knights coach Jeff Dufek said Berry is overpowering hitters. “He just has really dominant stuff right now,” Dufek said. “He kind of felt it toward the middle of the game and just didn’t let up.
